The MAGIC of KINDNESS ……

The MAGIC of KINDNESS ……

13497558_1653732211618649_4058488115813568463_oKindness is the capacity of an individual to act from a place of genuine concern for oneself and others. Qualities of kindness include empathy, compassion, generosity and consideration. In our home, my children and I discuss the importance of acting kindly with the intention of making a positive difference in our world. We believe that being ‘kind’ is a choice made from the belief that every one of our actions ~ influences others.

On a recent holiday I witnessed this sentiment of ‘kindness’ demonstrated by my daughters and it literally took my breathe away. Away from their learning environment, their home with absence of family faces and friends they offered kindness from pure intention, unprompted by myself.

Our daily routine of meandering the shoreline was habitually followed by a stop at a bustling cafe. The first morning a waiter connected to my children’s unease, as they eyed the queue of busy professionals shuffling side to side impatiently waiting to order their coffees. The waiter instantly calmed them with a loud cheery, ‘Good morning lovely girls. Once we take these orders, I’m going to ask you what you would like. Won’t be long’. His excitement was almost frowned upon as people restlessly shuffled and continued to speak on phones. Too busy for morning chatter! Two patrons were even rude enough to dismiss this waiter’s energy and direct their orders to the co-waitress.

Mark, as he introduced himself, recommended a colossal world of flavours to my girls and they were thrilled. Mark’s speech was slurred and his hand jerked back and forth as he wrote a name on their order. Genuinely transfixed by the joy in Mark’s eyes and his enthusiasm for the store’s products, my daughters didn’t seem to notice any of the waiter’s impediments. Our shakes were soon after hand-delivered to our table, by Mark. The delivery was a little awkward in movement, but again unnoticed. My girls whooped with delight. Mark’s face was alight with such purity, that I fought back tears. I was overwhelmed by a total feeling of oneness.

Everyday we stopped at this cafe. And everyday my girls waited to be served by this special person ~ who not only paid an earnest interest in them and what they were doing, but who remembered what drinks they liked and excitedly told them about what they should try. There was a day when Mark was absent, the girls remarked that their shakes did not taste the same. They lacked ‘connectedness’.

On our final day the girls took extra long with their order. We sat at our table by the window and flicked through photos we’d taken. We laughed. We chatted. We reminisced over our days together. We all savoured the taste of our delicious shakes. Standing to leave we saw Mark sitting at a table enjoying a work break. I stopped by his table to shake his hand in gratitude for the last nine days of excellent service. My youngest daughter then said ‘Thank you for bringing sunshine to our every morning’. My middle daughter said ‘your shakes are the BEST’, and my eldest daughter looked at Mark and said to him ‘I love that you are brave in a world that judges. That you are YOU – I am going to take that back home with me’. Mark stood up and bowed his head and in his broken speech said ‘thank you angels for gracing me with your kindness and love. You have had my days very happy’.

I think of all the learning opportunities we enable our children. The options. The advantages. The education. And then I witness this. This play of kindness. A true sense of authenticity. The demonstration of connecting. Individuals each shining their light. The pure intention of making a difference ~ and it is these moments that are above everything else.

WORDS That Empower Our Children
by

WORDS That Empower Our Children

WORDS are powerful. At times, we can speak without thinking. A rushed moment, or we maybe tired from a long day of work, perhaps guilty of doing too many things at once or quite simply we’re grumpy. A reaction pops out. Or in my case ‘explodes’ out. Believe me ~ it happens to the best of us! Words can have long-lasting effects, especially on our children. A thoughtless word can shatter a child’s confidence, self-esteem and sense of worth. I’ve spent much of my adulthood, healing from the consequences of growing up with abusive and hurtful words. Some words have power beyond our years, beyond whatever changes we may make to ourselves and to our lives.

I made a conscious decision when my children were much younger to empower them in every way that I possibly could. I wished for my children to grow up healthy, loved, self-reliant and confident ~ in both themselves and their natural abilities. Words and actions have been the two platforms in which I’ve created effective empowerment.

Words & actions from a place of LOVE.

I have become aware of words as I say them. Thinking before I speak. I always try to speak from a place of love. True power should not hurt anyone; it should help them to see their own greatness and potential. I am conscious of the effect my words have ~ our words resonate within the very core of our children. Our words act as barometer, for how our children will speak to others and how they expect to be treated in return.

These are some of our WORDS that we use within our home to encourage, empower and reassure our children ……..

  1. I LOVE you
  2. You are beautiful
  3. Be YOU
  4. Expect great things
  5. Find your UNIQUE gift & share it
  6. BREATHE
  7. Relax
  8. What was your favourite thing today
  9. I TRUST you
  10. You are my teacher
  11. You don’t have to be good at everything
  12. You are KIND
  13. Live from heart
  14. Always stand in truth
  15. I BELIEVE in you
  16. Dance to the beat of your own drum
  17. Trust your INTUITION
  18. I am so proud of you
  19. You are MAGNIFICENT
  20. Do what makes you happy
  21. I’m listening
  22. Mistakes are lessons
  23. Let’s read
  24. It’s ok to say NO
  25. You are my SUNSHINE

It is a JOY, a privilege and a huge responsibility to parent a child. We don’t always get it right, but each day we have a new chance in shaping the lives of our children, their confidence and their self-esteem. There is still a place for words of discipline and disapproval of poor behaviour, but finding the right words to address the action is more appropriate than labelling or hurting a child.

Our words and conversations with our children create our reality, our future and our relationships. Remember ‘our voice becomes their inner voice’.

Anything & Everything is Possible with the New Full Moon in Virgo

Anything & Everything is Possible with the New Full Moon in Virgo

moonpurwoman

Today Tuesday 23 Feb 2016 (22 Feb in Europe & America) marks the New Full Moon in Virgo. The actual days of the Full Moon are generally the liveliest, revelatory, and emotionally charged periods of the moon cycle. Exactly how I’m presently feeling!

Full Moons are a time when we can feel extremely sensitive to the pushing and pulling energy of two opposing signs, in this case it is the polarity of Virgo and Pisces. During this process we facilitate changes within our lives and we release what no longer serves us. Under Virgo we learn to perfect our natural talents in our service to the world. I read today that the Virgo brings practice and discipline into everyday, and she keeps her body pure, as she regards it as her holy temple. Hence, we can anticipate greater faith and practice during this lunar sequence.

Significantly, this Full Moon February 2016 is the final moon phase in an eclipse chain, which began in September 2015. We have literally come full circle. It is a period in which all projects that we’ve started come to completion. The Virgo Full Moon is a time of relinquishing old, stagnant energy. It is essential that we set an intention to let go of the ‘old’ and move forward into the ‘new’. Cutting free from any chords that no longer serve our purpose. The theme of completion fits perfectly with the final moon cycle. Sigh!

The planet of Jupiter aligns closely to Virgo during this phase bringing new opportunities, either in matters of love or financial. A leap of faith will serve us well. It also indicates the healing of a broken heart. It may be a love relationship, friendship or parent relationship that has been a source of inner pain. Whether it be a separation or a continuing toxic relationship, it is the moment for us to take back our power. A time to set healthy boundaries and release all old patterns of expired relationships. Outstanding emotional issues need to be discharged so we can start our new journey with no baggage (or as least as possible!).

Honour yourself and stand in the light of your BEAUTIFUL LOVING BEING. Embrace all that is coming with this New Full Moon in Virgo.

TEACHING OUR CHILDREN “INTUITION” ….

TEACHING OUR CHILDREN “INTUITION” ….

einstein-valuable-540x338

Carl Jung said: “Intuition is a function by which you see round corners” and it was Albert Einstein who once said that intuition is our most valuable asset, and one of our most unused senses. My youngest daughter in my book, Little Angels, describes intuition as a voice deep inside her tummy that tells her when she should or shouldn’t do something. She claims that this voice inside is always right. Page 6 of my book, depicts this very daughter contemplating climbing a bookcase to fetch a ball, that we had purposely placed up high. In reality she did climb the shelves, lost her balance and created a disarray of books, photo frames and cushions. When I walked into the room she said, ‘Mamma, my tummy was telling me not to climb, but I didn’t listen to it’. I smiled as I realised the importance of her acknowledging her own ability to judge between what was right and what was wrong. We have always encouraged our children to listen to this inner voice, their gut-feeling, their judgment connected to their feelings rather than their analytical mind – to rely on their inner voice that ‘just knows’.

Screen Shot 2016-02-16 at 2.33.22 pm

How many times have you had a random thought, response or impression that you should do or shouldn’t do something, only to later find out that your sensitivity was completely accurate? For some married couples, it took just one look to recognise their soul mate. Have you ever had a gut instinct about a situation and not listened to yourself but later reflected you wish you had? These flashes are familiar to everyone. Intuition is natural, a part of all of us. Intuition will tell you intimate and important things nobody else will—and it will also tell you things your own mind will argue with.

Intuition is a vital life skill set and I’m passionate about educating our children to rely upon this inner wisdom. For each of us, as our life story unfolds, with its plots and twists, highs and lows, times of difficulties and choices – simply going with our ‘gut’ can be the make or break of our navigation. Teaching our children from a young age to instinctively consult their inner wisdom prepares them for the wide world beyond. During their challenging teenage years of vulnerability, confusion, self-consciousness, fast-pace; intuition can be the key skillset that averts potentially damaging choices.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is to teach them to trust their intuition. This gift will be one of their strongest protections, empowering them through life’s crises and curve balls. Intuition will be what gets our children through.

No Time for Meditation?
by

No Time for Meditation?

_10751Meditation quite literally changed my life! To be honest, five years ago, the very concept of sitting in a lotus position, ‘zenned out’ in a serene state, chanting “OM” mystified me. In that previous life, I was conditioned into a state of ‘hurry’. Squeezing an early morning exercise regime, organising children for school, work, shopping, dinner, homework, folding washing all into a daily routine. How could I possibly entertain the notion of sitting for a period of time, empting my mind of the endless ‘to do’ lists and take mindful deep breathes? No way!

A close girlfriend invited me to join a local meditation group. She promised me that I’d love it, so I tagged along. I remember walking into the hall and being struck instantly by the light energy. There were gentle whispers, people shuffling to get comfortable, welcoming nods and then I saw our teacher sitting framed in her beautiful, glowing aura. The guided class transported me. I entered a state of blissful calm. From that very first experience I was hooked. I read everything I could on ‘meditation’ and all the different practises. I attended classes and workshops. The real change for me came from my own dedication to my daily practise.

I write this piece to urge you too to find the time from your extremely busy, time-poor lives to invest 10 minutes a day or every second or third day, to yourself. I have been in this space. I get it, but the self-transformation is worth every dedicated minute.

Regular practise embraces a plethora of benefits, such as:

  • Stress management
  • Boosts our immune system
  • Combats illness
  • Slows our rate of ageing

Meditation invites mindfulness into our daily life, where we can cease monitoring the content of our daily thoughts. Flicking off our ‘auto-pilot’ button and being present in the HERE and NOW. Meditation provides time for reflection and planning. Meditation is a powerful and life changing tool.

So here is the simple practise I adopted into my own busy schedule:

  • Find a place. Quiet. Uncluttered without distractions.
  • Mornings are best straight from sleep. Your body in this state is far easier to discipline (but choose a time that works best in your day).
  • Start with 10 minutes (you can build this over time, 10 mins is perfect when starting).
  • Sit crossed legged on a cushion with your hands resting gently in your lap. Keep your back straight. Sit in a chair if you cannot comfortably sit on the floor.
  • Gently close your eyes and concentrate on the tip of your nose.
  • Have a statement prepared. An affirmation that brings meaning to your practise. It could simply be ‘I am happy’ or ‘my day today will flow effortlessly’ or ‘I am grateful’.
  • Breathe in gently through your nose. A long, unrushed inhalation. Draw your breathe as far into your belly as you can. Hold it.
  • Exhale, slowly with purpose (conscious breathing slows down your metabolic rate). As you exhale count ‘1’.
  • Then ‘2’, ‘3’, ‘4’ all the way to ‘22’. I chose ‘22’ as my number; you can choose ‘10’ if that works better. If I was distracted by mind chatter and lost my focused count, I would start over from ‘1’.
  • Thoughts will come in and out of your mind. This is part of the process. Let the thoughts enter and leave. Constantly bring your attention back to the breath and the count. Over time this simple practise will become easier and easier.
  • You will find the practise profoundly calming. Start to deepen your awareness. Notice the pause between breathes. Embrace the stillness.
  • Finish your practise by repeating your intention or affirmation.

I challenge you to try it. Take just 10 minutes each day for YOU. Find that inner peace that we are all seeking. Once you’ve started, the changes in your life will become abundant.

Many Lives, Many Masters: Dr Brian Weiss in Melbourne

Many Lives, Many Masters: Dr Brian Weiss in Melbourne

I feel guided to share an element of my recent Dr Brian Weiss workshop with you.

I first attended a Hay House workshop with Brian Weiss three years ago in Coolum, Australia. The experience was one of life’s personal epiphanies. I connected to the very essence of Brian’s spiritual being, which is pure love. Love in its unconditional form had been barren in my own childhood and I’ve spent a lifetime looking for it, to find that true love is within (but that’s another story).

Brian Weiss represents humility, compassion, benevolence, kindness and love on such a high vibrational level that his light is awe-inspiring. He resides in this physical realm in a state of pure love.

On this recent weekend in November ’15 in the heart of Melbourne, Brian Weiss took to the stage in his humble manner, and unbeknownst to many of us, the world was watching Paris fall to its knees. Brain eloquently expressed the crucial importance of spirituality, embracing love, compassion, kindness and the consideration of the good of others.

One of Brian’s metaphorical concepts presented in the workshop has resonated deeply and I wish to share. Brian Weiss asked us to imagine that we were all ice cubes floating around in cold water. Cubes were being emptied from an assortment of ice cube trays. Imagining the cubes had consciousness, Brian asked us to imagine the discussions the cubes would have in the water, “We have neater and sharper edges than you” or “Look at those cubes, they’re dented and misshaped”. These words of difference would lead to arguments and battles. Brian then asked, what happens when the all cubes melt? Every individual ice cube would return to its original state of: water. All the cubes are in fact the same. As to life on Earth, we are all connected. We are from the same source and true spirit.

I truly connected with this metaphor. Brian Weiss also powerfully added during his workshop “There is only one religion, LOVE’. By opening our hearts and living from true heart, we can practice unconditional love and live with empathy, compassion, altruism and kindness.

Only love is real! Thank you Brian for sharing your true heart and true wisdom.

With Love

LOVE vs. FEAR
by

LOVE vs. FEAR

Understanding love is a process. Often it means transcending self-imposed limitations and past experience imprints before we can truly expand in full heart. It entails a personal and shared journey filled with tremendous personal growth, extraordinary challenges, bounty and absolute unique experiences of life and self.

Navigating through my own spiritual journey, I have grasped the duality between love and fear. In every moment we are either in a state of love or in a state of fear. Where there is fear there is no room for love. Where there is love there is no room for fear. My own indentation of fear was prominently embedded deep in my subconscious from very early childhood. Fear constantly paralysed my expansion as I adapted habitual emotional responses in situations and relationships that disarmed me. Even though I have often relied on the ‘fight or flight’ emotional instinct of my brain for survival, higher reason and mortality can only be actualized in a state of love. Shifting from fear, to living a life of love has been the most incredible transformation in my own personal journey.

Exterminating my natural fear inclinations was an expedition through many, many layers, requesting a changed mindset, patience and dedication.

  • Practicing the art of mediation has been my most powerful vehicle. Regular mindfulness practice, has allowed my mind and nervous system repose in profound silence, clearing blocks and dissolving stubborn obstacles.
  • Past Life Regression Therapy via Brian Weiss workshops enlightened my spiritual growth staggeringly. Experiencing past life incarnations was a gateway to understanding my current life, to healing my current afflictions and renewing my ongoing evolvement.
  • Attending a Doreen Virtue, Angel Intuitive workshop. During a group ‘healing addiction’ mediation, not sugar, nor caffeine, but fear raised its ugly head! The awareness the meditation delivered was phenomenal.
  • A profound Quantum Consciousness experience with my spiritual teacher, Melissa Haymes, allowed me to tap into my own personal wisdom, layers of consciousness and cosmic consciousness. I received instant insight. I physically wretched my black core of ‘fear’ at the end of the session, liberating me metaphysically and emotionally.

Letting go of my addiction to fear has been a personal battle. A liken it to a child relinquishing their ‘blankie’. The touch of it was an innate comfort that had become habitual. Surrendering fear and reclaiming more personal power has allowed me back home to myself. To my true, authentic being. To my divine nature of pure love.

Love is state of being. Love is for others, love is for you, love is for our children, love is for our neighbours, love is for nature, and love is for all. We are all connected. And then when we encounter a cautionary situation or person, we can refrain and remain in our state of love. From this loving place within, we can choose how to respond or not respond.

I read in a Wayne Dyer book, which resonated deeply with me, “Fear knocked on the door; love answered, and no one was there”.

Live from a place of PURE LOVE.

Love and light and blessings,

Sarah xx

Everything Happens For A Reason
by

Everything Happens For A Reason

My wise Grandmother, who in the eye of any meaningful situation quotes “everything happens for a reason”, has been a tremendous teacher in my life. She has a calm resolve in accepting any struggle for reasons beyond her control. Like my grandmother, I believe that the magic, the tremendous people and the struggles along my own passage have been orchestrated by a kind of master plan from a greater universal force.

I conclude that people come into our life not by any coincidence, but to serve a purpose on our life’s journey. Synchronicity delivers this friend, spouse, relative, teacher, or neighbour to demonstrate compelling life lessons. To guide us, mentor or instigate the writings of our unwritten story. These gifts do not define us, they serve us, they are there for the reason we need them to be.

Like the people that show up in our journey at the precise needed moment, incidents happen in our life with divine intention, and all for a reason. Our highs and daunting lows and the bendy twists and turns, are all part of our life story. The love, loss, ill health, milestones, tragedy and great moments, are perfectly paved into our road to test the absolute limits of our soul and its evolvement.

Once we live from this perspective of greater awareness, the road we are travelling, feels less retching. Knowing and anticipating the potential lessons that comes from each person or situation that presents, allows a kind of acceptance of where we are in our personal memoir. It diminishes our struggle, our anguish and the resistance we harbour. The key is to simply ‘trust the process’ and know it is for a greater ‘reason’.

This beautiful poem by an unknown author captures the essence of people coming into our life’s story for a reason.

With love,

Sarah xx

People come into your path for a reason a season or a lifetime.

When you know which one it is, you will know what to do with that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty…

To provide you with guidance and support…

To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually…

They may seem like they are a godsend, and they are.

They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then without any wrongdoing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die…

Sometimes they walk away…

Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand….

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled…

Their work is done.

The prayer you sent up has now been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON.

Because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.

They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.

They may teach you something you have never done.

They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.

Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons.

Things you must build upon to have a solid emotional foundation.

Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind, but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life…

Whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime
